COLOR

The 4 C's explained

The color of a diamond is determined with letters of the alphabet with letters of D, as colorless and Z as light colored. The standard of this color determination is set by the 3 major diamond laboratories IGI, HRD and GIA where all our diamonds are certified.

The fancy colored diamonds, yellow, green, pink, blue and brown are determined in a different way and do not fall under the color scale of colorless to slightly colored.

The colorless diamond is more expensive versus the slightly colored diamond. Then again, the fancy colored diamond is more expensive as the colorless diamond, the more popular the color, the higher the prices.

With diamonds, the differences in color are so subtle that they are often not noticed by the untrained eye. That said, these subtle color differences do determine the quality and price of the diamond.

  • D - F - colorless
  • G - J - almost colorless
  • K - M - slightly tinted
  • N - R - very slightly colored
  • S - Z slightly colored
